October 2026: 48,957 new directional surveys, 88,762 wells newly mapped and 2.5 million header values filled
BOEM's Gulf of Mexico directional and velocity surveys, recalculated for historical grid convergence and quality checked, plus well locations and header details from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Utah well records and GCVD's own archives. Nothing already in the catalog was overwritten.
The velocity cube now reaches the Permian Basin, Mississippi to Florida, the Anadarko Basin and the outer Gulf of Mexico shelf, and its deepwater offshore block was corrected and re-graded against the measured surveys.

The velocity cube
The cube now covers 131,586 km² more: the Permian Basin, Mississippi to Florida, the Anadarko Basin and the outer Gulf of Mexico shelf, with the deepwater block corrected, built from GCVD's measured checkshot surveys, each point with its own confidence. How the cube works · See it on the map.
